RNZAF Woodbourne's Main Gate

Taken in 1989, this entrance to the base no longer exists and entry to base is no via the airport entrance. The building on the right in this shot was the Guardhouse where the Provosts lived. This is where we all lined up for a mug shot for our permanent ID Cards.

RNZAF Hino Bus

It was this type (probably this very bus) that we travelled to Dip Flat in. Each base had a couple of these very nice Hino buses, and they are still in service today looking just as lovely.

RNZAF "RL" and Isuzu Transports

Many an exercise into countryside and bush was spent in the back of an Isuzu, or if you were in an unlucky group, a dreaded Bedford "RL". The "RL"s were better than a fun ride for thrills when riding cross county in the back of, on their hard wooden seats. Isuzu trucks weren't a lot better but their gears graunched a little less.
